We started our day with omletes and fruit, eating at Eddy's, a local restaurant, where the owners remember us. My mother made a deal with Sonia, Eddy's wife (the owners fo the restaurant) that she won't make me breakfast if I don't order in Spanish. After breakfast and orientation, we went on a checkout dive in Bari Reef, the reef right next to our flat. It was a good dive, and we had no major issues. After a break for lunch, we drove to a site called Esmeralda, a favorite of mine from last years trip. It's extra spectacular because not as many people go diving at it. At first glance it does not at all look like a great place for a dive site. As you drive into the parking space for the dive site there is a building that was going to become condos, but was never finished and is now falling apart and has some lovely grafitti on its walls.

When trying to enter the water, you find out why the shore diving book calls it a dive for advanced divers. There are lots of sharp rocks, urchins, and nice big holes to fall into while trying not to get pushed over by the waves, but we made it in better than last time. Once we had gotten deep enough into the water that we had been able to get our fins on, I realized that I had forgotten to put my dive computer on! It would have been horrible to go back to get it, so my Mum threw it to us! Thank goodness she has good aim!!! (Mum, if you're reading this, thank you very, very much for helping us out!) After that, the dive was gorgeous and it went very smoothly. My dad took picutres with his camera and I got to be the first person to use our GoPro video camera (my dad's newest toy) on a dive with us. The video turned out really nicely, and it wasn't too shaky or anything thanks to the holder that my dad made for it. We didn't find a lot of stuff that we videotaped, and the videos were just tests this time around, so I won't be posting anything.

So far our trip is going wonderfully!
