This morning, we woke up to thunder and lightning. Our electricity was out and it was pouring rain, but we still decided to go diving as soon as possible. We headed to the north part of the island towards Rincon. There are two main towns on the island, Kralendijk and Rincon.  After my parents dove, we found out road that we had wanted to use to get to the site I was going to dive at was only a one way road in the opposite direction, and so, our little adventure started... Rincon is the original settlement in Bonaire, and it doesn't have a lot to do with tourism. The majority of it's roads are dirt roads (that are unmarked too), so of course, the roads that my dad claimed were "shortcuts" were dirt roads... at least until it started raining and they became muddy hazards. Our "shortcut" turned into a very long drive that consisted of some scenic views, very scary hills, lots of bumping, getting stuck in the mud at one point, and lots of 4 wheel drive! We agreed that the whole thing was kind of like a Disney ride with all of the crazy jostling around and big hills, except, as my Mum pointed out, without the guarentee of getting off the ride without injury! She might not have had as much fun, but my very adventurous dad and I thought it was a blast and wanted to do it again.
